The problem with “standard electricians”.
Back in the early 1970s, our founder, Fred, was working for a general contractor trying to put together "Design-Build" projects. He had a major problem: he needed an electrical estimate for a project that didn't have blueprints, yet. When he asked local electricians for a quote, they all said the same thing: "Give me a set of plans, and I'll give you a quote."
But Fred needed someone to help him develop those plans to fit the customer's exact needs. Frustrated that no local contractor understood the design-build concept, Fred—who already held his Professional Registration in Electrical Engineering (PE)—decided to do it himself.
In October of 1974, he purchased Builder's Electric. At the time, they had two electricians and two trucks. Today, we are one of the most capable design-build electrical firms in Oregon.
